The Yarra Valley eLearning Community
Croydon Secondary College is a member of the Yarra Valley eLearning Community, a group of schools who have successfully applied for Phase 1 of the Leading Schools Fund program.
The Yarra Valley eLearning Community is an affiliation of the following schools:
- Croydon Secondary College
- Healesville Secondary College
- Lilydale Heights College
- Lilydale High School
- Mooroolbark College
- Pembroke Secondary College
- Upper Yarra Secondary College
Our aim is to develop a model cluster of schools which fully capitalises upon the integration of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) within the schools to drive a significant improvement in teacher effectiveness and student learning.
This is being achieved through:
- The development of an e-rich environment providing broadband network access to every classroom, learning space and administration area
- The employment of specialist learning coaches to assist in the development and delivery of ICT enriched curriculum and in the ongoing professional development of teachers.
The Yarra Valley eLearning Community involves more than 6400 students and 450 teachers.
For Croydon Secondary College, this means that we receive $180000 funding for the development of our Information and Communication Technology infrastructure. This is helping us to improve every aspect of the school, especially curriculum development and implementation, reporting to parents and school administration. The program gives us access to many excellent professional development opportunities.
In particular, we have employed our share of thirteen teacher coaches who will work with their colleagues to enhance their teaching strategies and improve student outcomes. One of the Learning Coaches is the program coordinator and is appointed as an Assistant Principal. Four coaches are Development Managers, working in teams across the seven schools. Eight coaches are appointed to each of the individual schools.
